Grafting
Grafting is a horticultural technique whereby tissues from one part, scion is connected to another, the rootstock so that they continue their growth together. This technique is generally used for the asexual propagation of commercially grown plant for horticultural and agricultural business. In most cases, one plant is selected for its roots and is called the stock or rootstock. The other plant is selected for its leaves, flowers or fruits and is called scion. The scion contains the desired genes to be duplicated in future production. With grafting it is possible to produce six different types of apples in one single plant. For generations farmers, botanists, and home gardeners have been using grafting to make these miraculous ideas into reality. At Kalapas we are grafting various citrus plantlets to generate high yielding citrus plantlets.
